Emporia Main Street is proud to have spearheaded the Veterans Banner Project, an initiative to decorate the downtown light posts with banners honoring current or former service members. From the beginning of the project in 2014, it was about much more than banners – it was about collecting, preserving, and sharing the personal stories of those who have bravely served their country. To continue honoring these heroes, Emporia Main Street worked with IM Design Group and KVOE to create a keepsake magazine of their stories, with proceeds donated to local Veterans Organizations. Additionally, each fall Emporia Main Street collects donated items for care packages to send to currently deployed service members.

Beyond the Banners Keepsake Magazine

Emporia Main Street has partnered with KVOE and IM Design Group to create a second Beyond the Banners magazine. Volume 2 of the magazine contains stories collected between 2018 to 2024 of banner the project, in a printed keepsake publication. Books can be purchased at Emporia Main Street, KVOE, or Middle Ground Books at 606 Commercial Street. To order online and take advantage of our shipping option, please visit beyondthebanners.com
