Emporia, KS – For those looking to Step Up and Throw Down, 616 Commercial is still the place to try your hand at axe throwing. The Axe Shedd, formerly known as Main Street Axe Company, now has a new name and is working on upgrades to their bar menu and additional entertainment components.

After opening in May of 2022 Owner, Calebh Shedd, decided to transition from the franchise business model to opening his own business.

“By having my own company, I have the flexibility to try new things for the business,” explains Shedd. “I plan on doing drink specials each week, host watch parties, and hold pay out tournaments for axe throwing and corn hole.”

Shedd, a graduate of Emporia Main Street’s Start Your Own Business Class, has been active in the organization since becoming part of the downtown community.

“Being an entrepreneur means adapting to changes and pivoting when needed,” says Casey Woods, Executive Director for Emporia Main Street. “We have enjoyed working with Calebh through his business plan and are excited to see him branch into his own business. We know that having entertainment options, such as axe throwing, help our downtown become a destination for community members and visitors.”

To celebrate the renaming of the business, The Axe Shedd will be hosing a Grand Opening on Wednesday, September 27th from 4 pm – 6pm. Patrons can stop by for refreshments, drink specials, and free axe throwing. Please make sure to wear your closed toe shoes if you want to throw axes.

The Axe Shedd is open for walk-ins, reservations, and corporate parties. For those that are looking for league opportunities, there are several options for axe throwing as well as cornhole.

The Axe Shedd, located at 616 Commercial, is open Wednesday through Sunday. To learn more about leagues and hours of operations, patrons can call 620-778-5291 or visit The Axe Shedd on Facebook.
