Get Involved in your community
Emporia Main Street listens to our community partners, particularly when they express an interest in learning more about a topic, improving traffic, or generating community pride. With that said, there are several opportunities to get involved in upcoming activities:
The Taste- This annual event will be held on April 12th in the Civic Auditorium. Not only can you attend as a patron to sample the best in Kansas winery, distillery, and brewery options along with great local food, you can also promote your business to a regional audience. CLICK HERE to learn more about tickets and table sponsorships.
AI for Small Business- Emporia Main Street is working with Emporia State University for an “AI for small business workshop”. Space is very limited for this initial training session. If you are interested in attending the April 17th workshop, CLICK HERE.
Downtown Clean ups- Now is the time of year that people are walking out and about downtown! With extra traffic comes extra trash. We have some downtown cleanups scheduled (CLICK HERE), but if your business or organization would like to set your own cleanup day/time, Emporia Main Street can provide cleanup supplies. Simply reach out for more information.
Adopt a Garden Training- Emporia Main Street is working with the City of Emporia to enhance the Adopt a Garden process. Last year’s flooding and some technical issues were problematic for garden aesthetics. April 24th’s training will include a workshop designed for current and potential adopters of downtown gardens to make sure you are armed with the information necessary to make our corner gardens beautiful for all of our local residents and visitors. CLICK HERE to indicate if you would like to participate.
The Glass Blown Open Players Party and Food Truck Festival- Welcoming hundreds of disc golfers to town is our unofficial start to the outdoor festival season! If you want to get involved on the evening of April 26th, CLICK HERE!
Jigsaw Jam- A regional favorite that draws people from the Kansas City and Wichita area to downtown Emporia, the Jigsaw Jam is an opportunity to connect with a select clientele. CLICK HERE for more information.
Cinco de Mayo- Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow use Cinco de Mayo festivities to help fund scholarship programs for local youth. This fun day full of food, music, and other festivities is also a wonderful opportunity to market your business to the community. CLICK HERE for more Cinco de Mayo information.
Unbound Gravel- One of the largest cycling events of its type in the world definitely provides some opportunities for local businesses. If you are interested in a booth space (spots are VERY limited) CLICK HERE. If you want help converting visitors to business patrons, reach out to Emporia Main Street for some assistance.
Apella (event venues)- The Emporia High School “All Class Reunion” continues to grow. As classes put together options to meet up and celebrate, event venues can capitalize on the traffic. CLICK HERE for additional Apella information, including ways your venue can get involved.
There are all sorts of other activities coming up for your business. Easter, Mother’s Day, the Flatland Cruisers Car Show, area graduations and more… Make plans now so your business can maximize the positive impacts of area festivities!
