We are getting ready to gear up for the eighteenth year of the Start Your Own Business Class! The class starts each October, and features nine class segments designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs with technical knowledge to operate a successful enterprise while developing a network that can help coach small business owners through startup and expansion processes.
Class segments include:
Class 1 – Deciding on a Business & Business Plans
Class 2 – Understanding the Regional Market & Market Research
Class 3 – Staying Legal: The role of an Attorney & Accountant on your TEAM
Class 4 – Everybody Loves a Field Trip!
Class 5 – Where should you locate, Where can you locate, how do you protect your investment?
Class 6 – Cash Flow Projections and How to Finance Your Business
Class 7 – Employer/Employee Relations & Daily Operations/Business Practices
Class 8 – E-Commerce, Social Networking & E Marketing & Marketing for Small Businesses
Class 9 – Time to Make your Pitch
Class 10 – Wrap up & Community Resource Reception
Classes begin on October 7th and typically run Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. unless they fall on a Holiday. Each class contains curriculum work, guest speakers, sample “pitch” work, and targeted assistance to help each unique concept.
Participation in the Start Your Own Business class can aid in resource acquisition (like Emporia Main Street loans), work with other professional financial partners, and access to Show of Hands grants.
