Cyber Security

by IM Design Group, Webmaster | December 12, 2017
Christmas is fast approaching, but there are some folks out there that definitely deserve some coal in their stockings this year.  Hackers are out in force trying to breach security, encourage businesses to click on dangerous links, and stealing credit information.  Think about what would happen to your business if you suddenly didn’t have access to your computer system?  What would happen to your credibility if your customers information was suddenly compromised?

Emporia Main Street membership has reached out and requested additional information and techniques to keep their systems safe.  We are partnering withEmporia State University to produce a Cyber Security for Business workshop.  The workshop will be held at the Emporia Arts Center on January 15th, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  You can RSVP to this free workshop simply by contacting the Emporia Main Street office.  We must have your RSVP by January 12th to register you for this important workshop.

In the interim, there are resources available for businesses to brush up on their digital security and train their staff to keep information safe.  Please click the following links for some helpful resources:

Cyber Security is something that most of us struggle with.  Security breaches willalways outpace security.  Emporia Main Street is not an expert in this field, but the good folks from Emporia State University that supplied information for this article are.  By partnering with actual experts, we can improve the digital safety of member businesses, and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Businesses must use digital platforms to promote products/services, extend their sales capacity, store/create information, and create customer interfaces.  We understand that the issues surrounding cyber security can’t be covered adequately in an hour, and that sessions need to be interactive with appropriate follow up.  We hope the Cyber Security workshop will enable our member businesses and organizations to thrive in an ever changing security climate.  Please contact Emporia Main Street for details.
